Mosque History

After months of frequent meetings and discussions and as a respone to the growing need of the muslim community in Manchester in general and Afghan community in particular, it is with great pleasure that we announce the establishment of Ikhlass Masjid.
It is the only purpose build, non profit charitable mosque in Greater Manchester which is managed and run by Afghan Community.
The foundation of Ikhlass Masjid was laid down on friday 21st of August 2009 i.e 1st Ramadhan 1430 H.
The mosque was located back then in a rented place in 62 Red Bank, Cheetham Hill, Manchester. In January 2010 it moved to its own place in Ikhlass Masjid, Halliwell Lane, Cheetham Hill, Manchester a former spiritualist church.
The mosque is open to people of all backgrounds ethinicities and religious affiliation.
Ikhlass Masjid is formally registered with the charity commission in the UK

Aims and Objectives:
-To provide a place of worship, educational and socail facilities for the muslim community in accordance with the teachings of the Holy Quran and the sunnah of the prophet Muhammad(pbuh).
-To help and guide our future generation through the milestones of their childhood, school, jobs, marriage and future life.
-To help educate young muslims so that they can help themselves, their families and their communities.
-To promote values of brotherhood, tolerance, respect, understanding fellowship and citizenship.
-To promote dialogue and understanding for a prosperous and harmonious, multicultural society.
-To preserve the Muslim family and help resolve social problems such as:
family violence, drug abuse, racism, anti-social behaviour and gang culture.
At present the mosque is comprised of only one prayer hall with the capacity of 45 people (including women) and a planning application has been submitted to rebuild and expand the mosque so that we can have a safe mosque, better facilities for our children, to be educated in Islam, better wadhu facilities and exellent amenties for our ladies. To do that we need help from Allah and your generous contributions.
